Welcome to the Calistoga Camera Club.
Here at the CCC, we’re all about taking pictures and encouraging others in our community to both get out and shoot and to appreciate photography. As a club, we hold weekly lunches at Boskos, sponsor two community slide shows each year, organize the occasional field trip, and promote photography in the community. We have hung a number of shows around town and have members showing their work in art galleries in Calistoga and beyond. The club has been an important participant in Calistoga’s Fourth of July Fair events, the Christmas Tractor Parade, and our Farmers’ Market.
The Calistoga Camera Club is looking for members who are a little passionate about photography and who want to grow in their abilities. It’s the “art” of photography, not the mechanical act of taking pictures, which excites us. New members can be rank beginners with a “point and shoot” camera or veterans of photography, but they should have serious intentions and be willing to objectively assess their work. Photography is a subject that is “an inch wide and a mile deep,” and will present both challenges and satisfaction as we progress. Digital photography has energized the field because it allows photographers to take hundreds of images without the cost of development. For that that reason, more photographers than ever are making excellent images.
